What do you need to calculate the product charge?
Every entrepreneur who places packaged products, tyres, oils, lubricants, batteries and accumulators on the Polish market is obliged to calculate and pay a product fee. If you have placed any of these products on the market in the previous calendar year, you must To calculate the product fee you will need:
- the weight of packaging introduced (broken down into plastic, aluminium, ferrous metal, paper and cardboard, glass and wood),
- the mass of new and retreaded tyres introduced,
- the weight of second-hand tyres introduced,
- the mass of introduced oils and lubricating preparations,
- the mass of batteries and accumulators introduced.
Such data should be sufficient for you to calculate the product fee with the help of a calculator or to pass on this obligation to the environmental experts, the recovery organisation Interzero. If you wish to calculate the product fee yourself, please also check the following statutory minimum levels of recovery and recycling packaging or products introduced by your company and the rate of the product fee for the calendar year in question (in PLN/kg).
Wondering whether the obligation to pay a product fee also applies to your company?
How to calculate the product fee - formula
The amount of product fee due for packaging and products is calculated using the formula:
Where:
- OP - amount of product fee due in PLN,
- M - weight in kg of the type of packaging/products introduced,
- P - required recycling rate in %,
- OR - the achieved recycling rate for packaging/product waste calculated as the mass of packaging/products actually recycled divided by the mass of packaging/products placed on the market, expressed in %,
- SO - rate of product fee in PLN/kg.
After substituting the data into the formula, you will get the amount of the product fee for the packaging or products of one type placed on the market. If your company has introduced several types of products (e.g. second-hand cars with: tyres, batteries and accumulators and lubricating oil), then a separate calculation should be made for each of them.
If the achieved recycling rate (OR) is higher than the required recycling rate (Prec.), then the product fee for this type of packaging/product is PLN 0.
