For the sake of our customers' convenience, we organise all waste logistics and support you in selecting a battery container and assigning a waste code. We carry out both one-off orders, as well as cyclical acceptance from the same address or from several points or branches of the company located on the territory of Poland.

We operate companies operating in various sectors, regardless of size and scale of waste generated, including:

  • automotive workshops and mechanical services,
  • vehicle dismantling stations,
  • transport and logistics companies,
  • car dealerships and other outlets selling second-hand vehicles,
  • companies and institutions with their own vehicle fleet,
  • industrial plants and warehouses,

  • organising the collection of waste batteries from any location throughout Poland,
  • disposal of all types of batteries - from internal combustion and hybrid car batteries to electric car batteries and traction batteries from other vehicles (e.g. forklift trucks),
  • safe transport and transfer of waste batteries to a treatment facility,
  • full compliance with regulations concerning hazardous waste.

At Interzero we also buy used batteries. We mainly buy batteries from electric trolleys and energy storage from production plants. The final purchase price of batteries depends on the current market situation and the demand for raw materials of a given type, which is why we prepare an individual quote for each enquiry.

Which batteries do we collect? Types and codes of waste batteries

From our customers we collect all types of waste batteries, including:

  • lead batteries and accumulators (code 16 06 01*),
  • nickel-cadmium batteries and accumulators (code 16 06 02*),
  • alkaline batteries, except 16 06 03 (code 16 06 04),
  • other batteries and accumulators (code 16 06 05),
  • batteries and accumulators including those included in 16 06 01, 16 06 02 or 16 06 03 and unsorted batteries and accumulators containing these batteries (code 20 01 33*),
  • batteries and accumulators other than those mentioned in 20 01 33 (code 20 01 24).

In the automotive sector, the largest group of waste batteries are lead-acid batteries used in cars, trucks and industrial machinery. These types of batteries contain many hazardous substances, including lead and sulphuric acid, and improper storage or transport can lead to chemical leaks and environmental contamination. Therefore companies holding waste batteries are obliged to hand them over only to licensed operators for the transport of hazardous waste.

In addition to waste batteries and accumulators, we also collect other waste fractions. Find out about our offer at:

Collection and disposal of batteries from electric and hybrid cars

As a result of the rapid development of electromobility in recent years, an increasing number of used traction batteries from electric and hybrid vehicles. These are mainly lithium-ion batteries characterised by their high energy capacity and complex design, whose transport and processing require specialised safety procedures.

Interzero supports companies using lithium-ion batteries by organising collection and management of traction batteries. Due to the high weight of EV batteries, we mainly use HDS vehicles with a payload adapted to the number of batteries collected during the service. We also provide our customers with:

  • loading of used lithium-ion and other batteries,
  • waste logistics tailored to the specific characteristics of high-voltage batteries,
  • transfer to specialised facilities for the recovery of raw materials from lithium-ion batteries.

Before you order collection - the rules on the storage of waste batteries

All waste batteries are hazardous waste, which require special handling and a number of safety rules. This type of waste should be stored in specially adapted areas, providing a hard, impermeable surface, an adequate drainage and waste water collection system and visible and legible labelling. Before being recycled and disposed of, batteries should be must be collected in sealed acid-proof containers and adverse weather conditions and made of electrically non-conductive materials.

From a business perspective, one of the most important rules is a ban on storing waste lead accumulators and batteries for more than one year. To avoid serious legal consequences, every company must therefore take care to ensure the safe, legal and, above all, regular collection of collected batteries.

Prepare to collect used car batteries from your business

Used batteries belong to high unit weight waste. In addition, they contain electrolytes and heavy metals, so their loading requires special care and appropriate logistical organisation. In order to streamline the work and shorten the collection time, before the agreed time:

  • weigh the waste or estimate their weight from the values given on the rating plates,
  • generate a Waste Transfer Note in the BDO system - is essential for the collection of used batteries by our driver,
  • ensure easy access to the storage area used batteries - this will speed up the service and increase loading safety.
